Politics on my mind

McCain picked Sarah Palin for VP today. I was disappointed at first but then thought about it some more.

The selection of Sarah Palin is brilliant! My immediate reaction was to belittle the selection because of her "hockey mom" status and foreign policy inexperience. How could this possibly give McCain an edge? But, after thinking about it, I believe these are the primary reasons she was chosen. Once the surprise passes, you can't help but see how it magnifies Obama's inexperience while at the same time making the republican ticket much more accessible to the "common man".

Of course the democrats are sweating. Not only have they been upstaged, McCain has forced everybody to see just how inexperienced Obama is! For the rest of the campaign this comparison will be made showing that even the republican VP candidate has more experience then the democratic presidential choice.

Anyone who focuses on Palin as just a "hockey mom", needs to be reminded how involved this woman has been in national energy policy and how she has the administrative / executive experience that is missing completely from the democratic ticket.

Yes, there is weakness in the foreign policy area. I'm not sure how this will be addressed. But I am sure that we'll find out over the next week!
